STILL - Charcoal Illustration #1

80.00

One of the original 18 charcoal illustrations I created for my first solo show of 2018, “Still”.

Charcoal on paper
A1 size - 841mm x 594mm

Still refers to a single frame from a moving image, as well as a situation that continues to be current. The works explore movement condensed into a single image resulting in distorted physical forms. The body becomes unnatural in this stillness, which speaks to abjection and body horror. The “still” is not a place of peace but rather distortion: every day movements are portrayed in their full temporal entirety, displacing that stillness, giving a very personal and disquieting narrative of body dysmorphia.
The face gazes out at the viewer, challenging them to find their own stillness.
