Lack The Low - Know What It’s Like

This music video was directed and animated by myself using a combination of rotoscoped and hand-drawn animation.

When discussing the direction of the video with Lack The Low the idea of embodied emotion came forward as a key theme for the work. I tried to emulate this, as well as match the tone of the song, by using a limited colour palette as well as limited visual symbols (chair, table, person) and exploring the physicality of these forms and how they can be manipulated and deformed. My hope was to create an inwards facing psychological drama that carried forward that idea of embodied emotion.
